tomorrow is my history exam. I have so much to study. after getting freedom, now I feel I don’t have freedom to choose what to study. I need to study the complete syllabus and write what teacher expects me to write and get marks to satisfy my parents. hmmm, let me try WeChat and talk to few people, and find out if they can help me??

let me call, Gandhi ji, Bhagat Singh as there is big chapter on them, will pull in my best friend then he can also benefit for the exam from the conversation.

Me: ( calling B) hey, Barat, how are you? how much have you studied?

Barat: i don’t know. i am confused what to study and how to start?

Me: shall we call Gandhi ji directly and know his struggle directly from him then reading from book written by somebody else?

Barat: don’t forget Bhagat  Singh , history mam said he too is important. a sure question is going to come about him

Me: yes, i want to try this WeChat, so let me take this opportunity to call them.

Gandhi ji: hello beta, why have you called me at this odd time?

Me: bappu ji, i am having exam tomorrow, will you help me?

Gandhi ji: no beta.. i dont cheat in exam or pass on Bit paper or show you scan images like Rajini in Robot?

Me: wow Bappu ji, you are so upto date .. you seem to know a lot about our era, but we are struggling to read about your freedom struggle

Gandhi ji: passion beta. you need to like what you do.. then you will like everything.. Remember Surya’s Dialogue in Gajini???

Barat: Yes Bappu, if u like doing the difficult thing, then difficult thing also will seem easy. but you saw the movies which is much easier then reading history text books.

Gandhi Ji: great. hmmm.. so what is problem now?

me: that i have history exam tomorrow, teacher said she will ask question about you and Bhagat Singh.

Bhagat Singh  then why don’t you talk to your History teacher instead of us? you need to develop courage to ask what you want?

Gandhi Ji: Listen Bhagat, they have exam, if they ask the teacher about the question paper, then they will follow the wrong path. they should be truthful.

Bhagat Singh: what truth is there? getting marks is ultimate goal. what path we choose is not necessary.

Barat: Sabash Sari anna poti( sabash, now that’s a nice competition)

me: stop stop. now just tell me what were your principles, what all you did in short. so that i can write and get marks.

Barat: what if they ask for 15 marks question? let them tall long story only. even I forget few lines in between, I can make up by Rang de basanti movie. hey by the way can we call  Amir and Om Prakash , so they can tell us better, I mean in the story format so I will remember better.

me: ok let me call them too..

Amir: Hi hi  hi.. its nice to see you all..

me: hello sir.. but we are not in press meeting. you can be casual now.

Amir: i am always cool.

Barat: no you are perfectionist.

Amir: smiles. so beta, why did you call me?

Barat: wait sir, we are calling Om Ji also

Amir: so you want me to do a movie for you?

Barat: no sir

Me: we want you to talk about your character in Rang de basanti movie.

Amir: you mean that? hmmm… actually i am out of that character for now. ask me about my new Avatar in female role.

Barat: but my history teacher would not accept that answer for her freedom struggle question na.

Om: this is the reason i have stopped making  such movie. i want to convey something, this generation understands something else.

me: how did we disappoint you sir

Om: everybody saw foreign lady, Soha’s dressing, Amir bottoms up, songs. they saw everybody’s acting, but not the story line

Barat: but my history teacher said it’s a good movie. we can learn lot about the freedom fighters from it.

Om: ( he feels irritates) call your history teacher in line.

Me: oh.. let me link her up too

Teacher: what is this.. you people are calling me at this time? when i taught in class you people slept, now when i am sleeping you are waking me to ask doubts

Barat: no mam, sorry. Director Om wants to talk to you.

teacher: yes sir, tell me.

Om: what made you think Rang de basant i is all about freedom fighters of that era.

teacher: that is what you showed in black and white in movie na.

Om: so you missed seeing all colour part?

teacher : no sir, we all saw how two couples fell in love, and but you never showed how she got pregnant??

Om: furious.. you lady.. you cannot take conclusion from what have shown in a movie with so much of money spent , actors acting, etc etc

Amir: yes OM, you didn’t give me a chance to be close with the heroine, i would have the scene perfect you see.

Om: shut up and get lost.

Amir: gets irritated and goes offline’.

teacher: so where were we?

Om: its my line. don’t copy. i wanted to show how this generation can fight for their right, making impact on society and for its betterment. how they can fight against corruption in this nation taking inspiration from our freedom fighters.

teacher: oh.. you never gave subtitles na sir, so i didn’t understand.

Om: its not worth talking to you. i am quitting .

Gandhi ji: peace people. you need to talk it out and not fight. what do you say Bhagat?

Bhagat Singh:  i have lost hopes on India after listening to the conversation. if i am still there, they might take out different meanings for “Inquilab Zindabad!” also. let me go back to sleep and assume India future after my death.

Gandhi ji: hmmm.. there is no patience.

me: you mean Gandhi giri?? oops Gandhism??

Gandhi Ji: now dont call all circuit family. i have had enough.

Teacher: tell us what you wanted to tell Bappu?

Gandhi Ji: there is no such thing as “Gandhism”, and I do not want to leave any sect after me. I do not claim to have originated any new principle or doctrine. I have simply tried in my own way to apply the eternal truths to our daily life and problems…The opinions I have formed and the conclusions I have arrived at are not final. I may change them tomorrow. I have nothing new to teach the world. Truth and non-violence are as old as the hills.

Barat: so u mean to say we can too make history and its keeps changing with time.

Amir: i am back.

me: ok Amir, thanks for returning. we were discussing on Gandhi ji’s saying. he says we don’t have to study about him, as they were solutions of him at that particular time.

Amir: exactly. did you see Tare Zameen Par?? that is what i emphasized. why this kind of education system? why “by heart “so much and write for the sake of exams? live for you passion and create an impression . dont leave it as a mark in history. give place for others to make their own story.

Teacher: in all tears.. thanks for teaching me a valuable lesson.

Barat: doesn’t that mean, i don’t have to write history exam tomorrow?

me: is that mam?

teacher: no, you have to learn about them, but need to by heart and vomit in exam, but you have take your interpretation. learn for not sake of marks, but out of interest.

Barat: last minute learning is not the solution.

me: so, I wasted all night talking to you, and gaining nothing. i could have at least slept or thought of a solution on improvising the education system in India.

note: this post is not written to hurt anybody’s sentiments on freedom fighters, teachers or movie starts. i just wanted to bring out the change in thinking about the education system which still follows “by heat and vomit ” procedures, expect kids to remember all the dates, war’s movements and names with places. finally the essence of the history is lost.

The Main Characters-

Sudhakar Bhadra- if not him, then this story is not there. he is a farmer, who commits suicide as he is not able to pay debts.

Gangiri- Sudhakar’s [ he is the brother of Sudhakar, a school teacher settled in urban town. he fights for the justice and his brother, in long run for the farmers.

Keyur Kashinath son of Vaishnav Kashinath who is a party’s general secretary and politician.

Videhi, wife of a rich industrialist and assistant director of the Centre for Contemporary Societies who comes up with a bizarre solution to combat farmer suicides by withdrawing all the subsides proved to them.

it begins with a suicide of a farmer at Mityalay in south central india. Unfortunately, the Mityala community fakes out the news of suicide committed by several such farmers and cancels out on the compensation to their families .his brother, a city dweller, educated and working as a school teacher gets affected by this and takes the case seriously and fights for rights. in the process of finding justice, he quits his job, and he fights for all other farmers justice, and doesnt want anyone else to commit suicide. he tries to figure out the core reason for his brother’s death. when he tries to reason, he finds out that, there were deceitful money lenders, bank mangers with targets, local MPs with elections coming , district collector, agriculture officer etc. with so much of expense to borne and no job, he delivers justice to the widows of the farmers. he is assisted by a journalist throughout the book.

the book gives insight of  working of Indian political and democratic system of India. it also tells about how Politian’s behave for the sake of votes.

the best part of the book is characterization. how the story is built to support each character. you feel like you have heard this story from your grandmother who is into farming or read it in news paper.

a very different book from the kind i have read in recent times. touching. this book gives inspiration to fight for a true cause. though slow, proves to be worth the wait to finish. language is simple, straightforward.

Few months after I my marriage, i realized that my life is under mess. Me and my husband had to repay too many loans. My husband was not ready to tell me the details. He just said, “ Don’t count my salary for household expenses, run the house in single salary ”. The one thought which struck me was, “ what if I had not been working?”. Still I waited for him to open up. Few more months passed, I became pregnant. House expenses raised. Due promotion missed him, putting us in more pain. To pay back a loan with high interest rate, I had to take a loan in my name for the first time. Staying away from husband for the job, running around banks with a growing child inside me, made me cry day and night.

I thought everything will be under control as I am going to my parents place for my baby’s  birth. I was going to live there for more than 7-8 months. Mean while I would get increments, so can manage with my salary and all the savings when I will return. But my parents constant pressure of buying  a property irritated me. How do I tell them that even after earning a six digit salary, me and my hubby are under a financial crisis, and I don’t know the reason for the same.

Finally the secret was revealed. He with his best friends have opened a software company a year ago. They all had taken loans and invested on the infrastructure.  Initially the company went on well, they developed few softwares and earned a nice amount. My Brother-in-law who got selected for American embassy, got fascinated by this software company and didn’t accept his offer letter. Brother-in-law became the in-charge of the company. Rest of the partners went ahead with their regular jobs. None of them turned back to look at the company. Slowly the recession started. They didn’t get any project. All of them had to put extra money from their pocket to pay the electricity bills, rent and staff salary. The burden hit all. Mean while our wedding was fixed, so hubby had to take another loan for the wedding expenses. For so many things, his salary was not sufficient which increased the pressure on me. I had to work till last to compensate the expenses.

Problem was simple, all the partners lost interest in the company. Each one got an onsite offer, and moved on with their lives and paying back loans was easier for them. My family, me, hubby and Brother-in-law were caught with the dilemma of running or closing the company.Brother-in-law was not paid any salary. So, that meant we had to pay for his expenses too. Every week video conferencing of the partners slowly reduced with their own family priorities. My peace of mind was lost in the whole process.

Finally the infrastructure and prime location of the company came to rescue. We sublet half the premises for a testing centre. The testing centre needed a computer administrator for the operation for which Brother-in-law fitted in. Testing centre took care of the salary of Brother-in-law, rent and the electricity bill. Luckily it was a gain from the drain. Atleast we didn’t have to shell out extra money from our pocket every month.  I realized that any amount of talking, arguing or crying is going to change my husbands or his partner’s way of looking at their business.

All the partners seem to have a job in hand which pays them well. This software company is laid side track, and they have lost the interest in very early stage of it. They don’t want to take risk by leaving their present jobs and hunt for new projects. They have got used to their lavish lifestyles( expect my family), so its difficult for them to sustain the pressure of financial crisis. The location of their current jobs, each of them is literally staying in different countries. Communication and staying connected is also becoming a trouble. The company is still there for namesake without much of development.

Starting a business is not a big deal; people should also have the stamina and willpower to run it. Incase one partner is not ready or accepting the advancement, other should convince or get convinced. the fire to run, the goal to achieve, targets should be clear. With every hurdle, a new solution should be found, dream should become bigger. Running away is not a solution . entrepreneur is true fighter.   

This book is going to make you laugh aloud, unless you have inhabitations to THE SWEAR WORDS. This book is about Nikhil. He spends a normal life with protective parents, he works under a supervisor who constantly finds faults with him, a pretty girl who doesn’t acknowledge his crush, until Lord Vishnu appears to him in a dream and gives him a purpose to live, to save the world. He is given 72 hours to save the world. And everything changes around him.

Nikhil and his two friends join together to save the world. Then slowly two Japanese’s girls who are martial arts specialist join them. Nikhil’s crush too joins their group with yet another colleague. Mean while lost Vishnu goes out for vacation as he is no mood to take the 10^th avatar. He gives them the rescue button which would take them to the happy land. GOD keeps in touch with the group by having video conference when required.

I found it to be A simple book, with more of swear words and comedy. It gives an atmosphere of a software company. It’s kind of “read and move on” book. Nothing to take from it, nothing to get hurt about, it gives complete entertainment. I felt it was novel idea of bring in the god, the concept where an individual takes it up on him to save the world from becoming zombies. Breaking the monotony and making the GOD smoke with Nikhil and his friends, God going on a vacation. Fast paced book, you never know, but you have reached the last page of the book soon.

My mom, secretly learnt to study. When this came to my grandfather’s notice, he encouraged her to study, put her in school. Grandmother used all her tricks to put a stop to it, but she lost the battle. Mom finally made her way to high school. Though grandmother didn’t allow her to study more, my mom made it till SSC.

My mom developed fascination for book. She always feels she is different world when she see’s books. Gift her book was best way to make up after a fight.

Once while travelling, grandmother had to take mom’s help to find the right bus. She needed mom to read the prescription and give her the medicines. She wanted my mom to sign the postal orders, or take money orders which she received from her sons. That is when grandmother realized her mistake. Now she feels proud to looking at this particular picture, which she keeps under her pillow.

I feel this photo is eye-opener for my family then, and made older generation realize their mistakes. Now they want every girl in the family to be educated. For me, this is an symbol of women empowerment.

I was lucky to read Keigo Higashino’s earlier book the “Devotion of suspect X”, which again was sent by Blogadda for review. Click here to read the review.

Overview of the book:

Review :

It is same as the “suspect-X”. you know the crime is committed, and have one main suspect. But how the detective nails on the suspect with trial and error is the real story.

Yoshitaka: business man. He is murdered with Arsenic.

Ayane: one of the main suspect, Youshitaka’s wife. She runs a school of patchworking.

detective Kusanagi( also known as Galileo) : he is detective, who tries to solve the crime case with professor Manabu Yukawa and Utsumi Kaoru ( cop). ( oh yes you need to read few lines again to determine the gender. After you get hang out the story, you remember the characters).

Utsumi Kaoru: she is the lady cop.anything she says has a female intuition connected . she doubts that Kusanagi has developed  liking towards Ayane and hence she goes to Professor for help rather than to the detective.

Hiromi Wakayama: apprentice worker at Ayane’s patchwork institute.

Yoshitaka and Ayane host a party at their house. After which Yoshitaka  tells Ayane about his decision to divorce her as she couldn’t bear children. Ayane leave the house with a pretext of her Ill father.Ayane leaves the house keys with Hiromi suspecting that her husband is having an affair with her.  Next day, Yoshitaka is found dead in his house.

Ayane becomes the main suspect. Detectives find it difficult to understand how somebody who is miles away from the city poison her husband. They try and check her alibi.

In the process of investigation, Utsumi feels that, Kusangai has developed soft corner for the main suspect, pulls in Professor Yukawa into the picture.

I still find the first book more interesting than this one. May be now I got used to this style of book. But still it kept me reading on. A perfect thriller which makes you race with the book and left with a feeling to know more and find out how the crime is committed. The book was little female centric with Ayane the main Suspect, Hiromi another suspect who is interrogated the most. Utsumi, the police officer with great female instincts, trying to pin one of the main suspects. The author makes reader guessing about the suspect.

Know the author:

Born in Osaka, Keigi Higashino started writing novels while still working as an engineer at Nippon Denso Co. (presently DENSO). He won the Edogawa Rampo Award, which is awarded annually to the unpublished finest mystery work, in 1985 for the novel Hōkago (After School) at age 27. Subsequently, he quit his job and started a career as a writer in Tokyo.

In 1999, he won the Mystery Writers of Japan Award for the novel Naoko, which was translated into English by Kerim Yasar and published by Vertical Inc. in 2004. In 2006, he won the 134th Naoki Prize forThe Devotion of Suspect X (Yōgisha X no Kenshin). His novels had been nominated five times before winning the award. The novel also won the 6th Honkaku Mystery Grand Prize and was ranked as the number-one novel by Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! 2006 and 2006 Honkaku Mystery Best 10, annual mystery fiction guide books published in Japan.

The English translation of The Devotion of Suspect X was nominated for the 2012 Edgar Award for Best Novel and the 2012 Barry Award for Best First Novel.

He writes not only mystery novels but also essays and story books for children. The style of writing differs from his novels, but basically he does not use as many characters as in his novels

I shifed to this new city for my job. I was just newly married. We had tough time deciding if I had to take this new job or not. Because it was my passion to work in a research organization, hubby and in-laws agreed with my decided to join.  I came to the city. Company’s guest house had only 6 rooms in it. As I went in as a couple, I was given the double bed room with a condition that, I have to vacate if a senior officer comes to the city. My luck was bad that I was given two days to vacate. Me while it was Ashadam ( a telugu/tamil month) when auspicious things are not done. Not even shifting the house. So the owners were not ready to give the house.  Oh yes, I didn’t look married to most of them. i.e I didn’t wear saree, sindoor or toe ring during my first day of house hunting.  Sadly there were no brokers too.(sadly)  I had to dress myself to fit into  place. One person was ready to give if belonged to certain community. We ditched that house. After so many hurdles we found a house, but problem was they would give me the house only after 10 days.

Hubby had to leave as his leave was getting over. On suggestion of a colleague of my office, I met somebody near the house I picked. Instantly I bonded with the lady. She asked me to consider her to be my sister and stay with her for those 10 days. I thought if I could stay for two days, I would be sent to another city for my induction, and come back to stay for a day. By that time my rented home would be ready.  Hubby was in a dilemma, but we didn’t have a choice, I had to stay in their house.

The ladys husband made few jokes as we were newly married, we didn’t take it serious. I stayed with them. He tried talking adult stuff, I would ignore it. ( as it was not really harming). Then I went for induction came back. He being a senior officer in local state govt office, had influence and got me gas connection easily and lot more things. The lady helped me to do all local shopping for my new house. It was the last day for me in their house.  That man, asked me to return the favor by showing porn in internet. Now that was heights. I couldn’t tolerate it. I felt helpless in the new city. Telling at home means leaving the job and packing up to be stay at home wife.

Yes I shamelessly cried. I Came out of house, called my colleague. He travelled 15 kms to come to the house where I was living, he simply said, “ pack up”.  He was not married, a bachelor, I knew him just for about 10 days. He immediately called my hubby and informed him about everything. Hubby felt bad for leaving me alone. My friend, asked my hubby if it was ok if I stayed in his house for that night, as my hubby was coming the next day. We finished talking  on phone, my friend went inside that house and packed my things for me as I was reluctant to step again inside the house.  Just before my friend came out, I heard a hard slapping noise. I didn’t ask him what happened. Neither did he say. (during this that lady was not at home) . she still feels I left their house without telling them anything. I feel guilty for not letting the lady know what her husband is upto?.

Now yet another thing what is troubling me is why didn’t I react? Why didn’t I slap him. It would have given my peace of mind.  But being new to city, judged by newlywed husband and in-laws, faithfulness for staying in their house and having has their food troubled me at that time.

But I was happy that a stranger colleague then who came for me, a hubby who trusted me and supported in all front makes me happy.

Thanks Mr. Anand for being there for me. But for you support on that day, I don’t know what would have happened to me. Thanks for let me stay in the house for that night, not bothering about your owner kicking you out of the house, or your parents thinking bad of you. ( as I said it was difficult for a married women to get house, he is bachelor and took risk of making me stay there for that night). Thanks for cheering me up and not letting me loose trust on MEN.

Dream:

Its my dream to open an Architectural firm. Being an architect, there is always a thirst to be independent, different, and creative. Setting up an office and fulfilling others dream is every Architects dream.

Constrain:

Call it the financial constraints; I had to land into a public sector. I get paid regularly, and incremental salary which takes care of my EMI’s fulfilling my families’ desires, but not my inner self.  I have made so many ideas to take up both challenges of work and home.

Requirement:

If I need to set up an office, what I need is a place, staff and constant communication with them. Meeting hall for client meeting, ideas sharing, contacts of contractors, vendors, structural consultants etc . I also need to mark progress, should be able to communicate the changes and keep track of finances.

To set up all these, I need to make investment. Finally, it’s the initial huge investment is what stopping me from opening my dream office.

Solution:

Got mail from indiblogger about the contest asking me to write about dream office. And it also gave a link about office 365 and three links to explore ideas..  hurray the links summarized my requirement within my budget.  It has Instant Messaging , VOIP , Video Conferencing  and telecommunication services, which comes with Lync server.

Now let me assume how this will help me with an example.

I get call from client (telecommunication service). I fix up an appointment. I make it physical as I  think its is required for assurance of the client. Then he gives me the input. I jot down the requirements as a word document/ take care statements in excel sheet. Then I share these stuff with my staff.

Once my staff understands the requirements, I can give instructions in instant messaging. Doubts with clients are clarified with video conferencing. Video conferencing is a bliss as I can participate even if I am travelling, convenient for client also as he saves lots of time on travelling In this traffic. I can Access my work through a browser, and find all my settings and documents just as i left them on my desktop—whether I am using my tablet, Smartphone, or another device. The drawings and 3d views are sent to me by my staff, I correct them, work on concepts, update it at my home PC, my staff picks it up from where I left and develops the idea further.  ( doesn’t it sound really interesting??). once the drawings are finalized, I can mail it to the coustumer and get the feedback.

While construction, I can talk to the contractor and supplier on phone, sort out things on mails and get the work executed. If I am not able to travel to the construction site, I can get the photos  and mark the progress on PC. I feels office 365 is complete project management kit with would help the small business owners like me balance work, part-time work and home efficiently. I can be omnipresent and cost effectively fulfill the dream of office without its actual presence and get work done and earn more.

now I have a PC at office, laptop at home to do the work. What more is required to contine is this dream is Nokia lumia and office 365 to take me to first step of success.

here let me present you the hairstyles of the ramp queen Ash’s few hairstyles .  i dont exactly know the names or how its made. but i can always tell you if liked it? .

option 1: 

its a nice bun/knot tied at back. its has few strands of hair falling on face. its certainly a style which a common women can wear on road. it would suit more when you a deep neck blouse to show your back. streaking would give yet another stylish look.

option 2: 

ha this is chic style. would go really well with western outfit. a sleevless would enhance the look. would nice if the hair type is straight. and the bounce of the hair when the person walks with high heel and carries a right attitude makes it more stylish.

option 3: 

occasional traditional wear. its heavy, but needed when you have to be the center of attraction. less to do on hair part, more on the accessories used.  though the flower and ornaments makes it heavy, but matter of few hours, it can be adjusted.

option 4: 

doesn’t this style give you a Japanese feeling? a casual style, just clip few stands from front little high, and let the fringe fall on your face. when there is no time, or you need to dry your hair naturally, best way.

option 5: 

layercut gives an advantage of leaving it loose, you have a option of making it fall on shoulder, face o r put back. just proper combing and little hair spray gives the magic.

option 6: 

though its looks likes you have just come out bath. the wavy hair sends style signals.

option7: 

tomboyish look. more suit people on business and have to possess command on others. goes well with collared outfits.

option 8: 

simple clean. you want to look tidy and dont like hair going out of place. comb close and tie at the back. perfect for travel.

option 9: 

ethnic and classy.  plaiting is traditional in south india. when there are elders at home who wont allow you to leave your hair loose, this is the best option. try out with kundan accessories, you look trendy and traditional.

option 10: 

little effort in curling the hair is need. just tying it up give a stylish look.

so what did you people see in all the options? the model is same, so certainly hair type is also same . just the styling part varied with the dressing. you want straight hair, use hair straightener, want curls, curl your hair. want to set it, use hair spray. add jewels, streaks or colour or cut your hair short. the perfect hair is the one, which doesnt get damaged even after you try all styles. and get better with each wash. feels smooth with conditioning.

still the contest asks for my ramp hair style, i would present this simple style as my perfect style. pull up your hair, twist, turn to one side, a clip it with the clutch clip in your hand. nothing special need. specialty comes with the special shampoo and conditioner used with good maintenance.     when working mom’s like me dont find time to comb hair, dont like hair falling on neck on summer and busy working on PC, this is the best.
